The Smarter Travel Choices Norfolk website signals a major effort to reduce traffic congestion and carbon emissions across the County of Norfolk. Kick started through a unique tripartite partnership between Norfolk County Council, Highways Agency and East of England Development Agency, the programme brings a broad range of innovative tools (including Travel Plan Builder), techniques and benefits to engage local communities in sustainable travel activity.

NBTN and Business in the Community support the launch of DfT’s 'Cycle to Work Guarantee'
Yesterday morning, the Secretary of State for Transport Lord Adonis launched the Cycle to Work Guarantee at University College Hospital, London. The voluntary scheme, aimed at employers, is part of the government's strategy to encourage sustainable travel.
The National Business Travel Network and Business in the Community are encouraging their members to sign up to the Cycle To Work Guarantee.

Bus Company asks Drivers to Scrap Car for Bus
A regional bus company has launched its own car scrappage scheme encouraging drivers to scrap their old cars in return for free use of its bus network for a year.

York residents to vote on congestion charging and workplace parking levies
The people of York are to be asked whether they want congestion charging and a levy on workplace parking to tackle growing gridlock. A major public consultation exercise will be launched in December on these and a range of other measures, amid growing concern about the health impact of worsening air pollution.
The proposals have emerged in a report on an investigation by City of York Council?s traffic congestion scrutiny committee.
